Abstract

|
|
Phage-inducing activities of instant coffee in GY5027 strains of 2 lysogens and the effects of sodium sulfite and ascorbic acid on its activities were investigated.
Instant coffee showed strong phage-inducing activities in GY5027 strains of 2 lysogens.
Sodium sulfite inhibited the phage-inducing activities of instant coffee.
Ascorbic acid showed an inhibitory tendency toward the strong phage-inducing activities of instant coffee, but stimulated the phage-inducing activities of it when it had weak phage-inducing activities.
Instant coffee treated with S9 mix showed very low phage-inducing activities in GY5027 strains of A lysogens.
Sodium sulfite and ascorbic acid showed no effect to the phage-inducing activities of instant coffee treated with S9 mix in GY5027 strains of 2 lysogens.
